Optimistic!

1 min read

Well, things seem to be getting back to normal. At least work-wise. With a little luck, I can get back to the fun stuff in a few weeks and we can enjoy some more lovelies in tight situations! I know it has been a long slow, frustrating time, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. The ball is beginning to roll again, if only slowly right now. But there is movement, things are looking much better.

Watch this space! I'm itching to draw some more naughtiness for you.

I just got a job illustrating a series of books. Thank goodness. They are just kids books, but they will pay the bills for a while at least. Then, out of the blue, I was offered a commission illustrating a graphic novel. Comics aren't my thing, workwise at least, but if I had not already accepted the work I have, if that graphic novel offer had come a few days earlier I would have snatched their arm off accepting it.

You look for jobs in vain for and year and then two come along at once. LOL!

Well this is a big relief, my finances were getting very precarious.

I should be able to stop with the crappy little jobs I've been doing to get by and transition back to some kind of normality. You won't believe how low you can go until you are hard up against piles of bills!

This means I will soon be able to start working through my outstanding commissions. It won't be incredibly fast, I'm working on other things too, but a few days a month can be put aside for them.

My apologies and thanks to all those who have been waiting long and patiently. Almost there.

Well, now I have a big smile on my face and a massive weight has been lifted, things are looking much better.

Well, they are looking slightly better. I've been promised a job that will pay enough to allow me to take time to get back to my commissions list again. Hopefully this will pan out and I can start making my way through my worklist again.

I can only apologise to those who are still waiting for commissions. It's been a bugger of a year for us all, no doubt.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Tough times

2 min read

Unfortunately Covid and the lockdown have hit a lot of people badly. I lost some work but thought it would be okay in the end. Late last year I got the news that a publisher who was a major source of income would be closing down and all work from them would stop immediately. They filed for bankruptcy and I'm still waiting on payment of my last invoices for them. Since then I've been scrabbling to replace that income, but as you can imagine lots of others are doing the same. Competition is fierce and some publishers are taking advantage of that. Financially, I'm in a very precarious position right now working from one bill to the next. This is why I've been neglecting Dofantasy for a while. I'm sure that things will work out, but right now all I can do is ask for your patience.

I know that for some of you who have commissioned me the wait is getting very long now, but I will get there. I have never failed to complete a commission and won't start doing so now.

I hope that you can understand and are not too disappointed at the seemingly incessant delays.

Thanks STeve

I don't know how this happened, but I've just completed a commission and have no idea who paid for it! I lost a lot of files early in the year and the switch to the new interface here is proving difficult to navigate.

I think I'm going insane and inventing commissions that were never asked for!

LOL!

Do you recognise this;

she is one of a commission of two girls. The other is a blonde in a hood.

Oh well, at least these were fun to draw!

I need a short break, I think!
